Become an Ambassador

Most ambassadors are invited to complete applications and participate in personal interviews. Any full-time IUPUC student, however, can apply to become an ambassador.

Student Ambassadors

Are you outgoing, friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable about IUPUC? Consider representing the university at campus events, community events, and high schools events and college fairs as a Student Ambassador for the Office of Recruitment & Admissions.

Ambassadors meet and talk with prospective students of all ages and backgrounds. They also interact with parents, community members, business leaders, high school guidance counselors, and others who want to learn what IUPUC has to offer.

Responsibilities & Activities

Ambassadors provide information about IUPUC's academic programs, campus resources, and student life. They also share their personal perspectives about why they chose to earn their degrees at IUPUC and what it's like being IUPUC students.

Most ambassadors join the program during the fall or spring semesters. They complete about four hours of work each week, such as:

  • Leading campus tours for interested students and their families
  • Assisting with on- and off-campus events, like VIP Days, career and job fairs, and college fairs
  • Sharing information about the IUPUC student experience with junior high and high school students throughout the region
  • Communicating with prospective IUPUC students by letter, e-mail, and/or phone
  • Attending regularly scheduled ambassador meetings

From meeting one-on-one with prospective students to giving presentations at area high schools and staffing exhibit tables at on- and off-campus events, Student Ambassadors gain valuable experience and skills that serve them well after graduation.

Benefits of being an ambassador include:

  • A paid scholarship each semester
  • Flexible work hours
  • Free IUPUC apparel and gear
  • Experience in giving presenting, networking, teamwork, time management, public speaking, and interpersonal communications
  • Professional training, mentoring, and feedback from staff and faculty
  • The chance to be an integral contributor to campus life at IUPUC
  • Recognition by the vice chancellor, faculty, staff, and other students who get to know ambassadors by name
