Biographical Statement

I joined IUPUC’s faculty in August 2012 as the founding director of our new mental health counseling program. I have taught in counselor education since 2002 and was staff psychologist and clinical supervisor at a university counseling center prior to my academic appointments. My professional interest focuses on multicultural education and training with specific emphasis in development of cultural competence, cultural identity development, and social justice, which are reflected in my scholarship, teaching, and service. Clinically, I am a “generalist” and my clinical experiences include individual, couples, and group counseling from pre-adolescents to senior adults. I have worked in community mental health, university counseling center, and private practice.
