Biographical Statement

Prior to returning to school for my Ph.D., I studied computer science and worked at IBM for 12 years as a programmer and project manager. This inspired me to I specialize in media studies and new media. My primary research interests are virtual work, technology adoption and adaptation including media law, and the uses and effects of technology on communication processes. My current research projects include investigating the use of social media between instructors and students and the effects of technology on student-parent communication in college. I particularly enjoy teaching and am passionate about media literacy education and making students good digital citizens.
