Completing the Degree & Concentration

As an IUPUC student, you can complete a substantial portion of the requirements for an IU bachelor’s degree in education with concentrations in English or social studies secondary teaching at IUPUC. You will transfer to the School of Education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), however, to complete remaining program requirements.

Your studies at IUPUC will include general education courses, course in the concentration area, and some education courses. Along the way, you will work closely with an academic advisor to develop a personal plan of study, identify appropriate courses that can be completed at IUPUC, and establish a timeline for transferring to IUPUI to complete program requirements. You must be in good academic standing to transfer to another IU campus.

Career Options

Engaged, passionate middle school and high school teachers are always in demand! Upon graduation with an Indiana University degree in education, you will be prepared as an effective teacher and classroom manager.

Although most IUPUI education graduates teach in public and private K-12 schools throughout Indiana, you could pursue teaching opportunities in other states.

You will also be prepared for graduate study in a master’s or Ph.D. program if you want to eventually teach at the university level or serve as a guidance counselor, college counselor, school principal, superintendent, or other senior administrator.
