Student Employee Training Guides

Congratulations on your new employment as a student work at IUPUC. To get started, here are some new-hire requirements that need to be completed.

Preventing Sexual Harassment

All student employees are required to complete the online preventing sexual harassment training within their first 90 days of employment. All new student workers and student workers who need to have a current training on file, will receive an email to their IU email account with information about how to complete this online training.

To use the campus Lync system for phone directory and campus instant messaging, an e911 online agreement must be completed. Complete the online e911 agreement.

Set Up Exchange Account

To use campus calendars and shared document folders for departments an IU Exchange account must be set up. To set up your Exchange account follow these steps:
  • Navigate to IT Accounts and login if prompted using your username and passphrase
  • Click on Manage My IU Computing Accounts
  • Click on Create More Accounts
  • Select Exchange and click on Create Account
  • Follow prompts and answer question to create the account

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Training

To protect student privacy and to stay in compliance, the online tutorial was created.  As a student employee, you must remain in compliance with confidentiality and FERPA.  This online FERPA training should be completed annually for all student workers.

IU Policy is student employees shall work no more than 116 hours over any two consecutive biweekly pay periods (4 weeks).  Student employees should not work more than 29 hours in a work week (Sunday - Saturday). Department requirements may specify 29 or fewer hours (please check with your supervisors).  Student employees will document their hours worked by using the IU TIME system.
